Anchored in 60-90 feet of water with 300 feet of chain and a double 20 foot
nylon snubber.
Perhaps the best anchorage I've ever had. Backed down hard and the anchor
set tight with about 150 feet out, then let out the other 150 feet. Been
here two days, no hint of dragging and hardly even a peep out of the chain with
the double snubber and devil's claw. Best I've ever slept at anchor.
Good dog walking shore a few hundred yards by dinghy -- nice beach with a fresh
water stream and vertical landscape sufficient to prevent Polarlys' escape, so
we could throw the stick and play chase on the beach. Both dog and human
enjoyed long drinks from fresh water snow melt stream. Town with decent
store (and tourists) about a mile across a calm straight. Polarlys
required to pose multiple times with Grandmas' and their grand-kids on each trip
to town. He doesn't seem to mind since it is so private when we get back
to the boat.
Honda outboard on back of dinghy continues to suck. It has always sucked.
It is mean-spirited, too heavy, under-powered for its weight, over-priced, hard
starting, it won't idle and it floods if you sneeze at it. On the other
hand, it has never actually stranded me anywhere (so long as I remember to open
the vent on the gas tank).
Spent an extra day here (today) because it is so nice and relaxing, but it looks
like I am stuck here tomorrow too, as the weather forecast is not great.
Good place to be stuck though.
